The Scheidmantel's

Blessed with a beautiful sunset in early October north of Grand Rapids Michigan, I got to photograph the Scheidmantel family and their sweetest little girls at one of my favorite Park is Rockford. We picked flowers, raced to see who was the fastest, went on an adventure and shared lots of smiles, songs and giggles throughout our time together. Dressed in gorgeous neutrals and different textures, the tones along with the glow from the sun made the warmth pop as if it hadn't been 30 degree's cooler the day before. The gusts of wind we got made their hair and dress movements more dramatic and added to the storytelling, sometimes the wind helps during photography sessions, and sometimes not. While I always strive to get the traditional photos of everyone looking directly at my camera, I don't stress about it or want EVERY photo to be like that! Interacting with the kiddos, playing games and singing songs, being silly with them is way more fun and honestly so much less stressful! Hyping up the photography session with excitement vs bribery or telling kiddos to smile at the camera tends to work better in your favor. I follow the kiddos rhythm, what they are checking out or want to see. New locations bring on curiosities and that's totally normal and fine with :) Making memories is what it's all about!
